Jeffrey C. Thomas

                                Reverend Jeffrey C. Thomas, Sr., B.S., M. Div.                                                                         

Rev. Jeffrey C. Thomas is the son of the late Dorothy Ann Thomas and the late Johnny Milton Johnson, Jr.  He comes from a family of six, two older brothers, two older sisters, and one younger sister.  He has four sons Jeffrey Jr., Jovonne, Michael, Calvin , & three daughters, Natasha , Jacque, Jesteen. He was elected and ordained an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church in the Missouri Annual Conference, September 17, 2000 by Bishop John R. Bryant.  Prior to his ordination, as Itinerant Elder, Bishop Frederick C. James ordained him an Itinerant Deacon in the Baltimore Annual Conference April 13, 1996.  Rev. Thomas began his ministry in the 2nd Episcopal District at Tyree A.M.E. Church under the leadership of Rev. Robert N. Brown, Jr., 1990. He has served on the ministerial staff in the 5th District, St. Peter A.M.E. Church, the 10th District, Bethel A.M.E. Church,  the 6th District, First A.M.E. Church & Greater St. Peter A.M.E. Church, Jonesboro, GA under the leadership of Rev. Isaiah Waddy and also served on the staff at Metropolitan A.M.E. Church, Washington D.C., the 2nd Episcopal District, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Ronald E. Braxton.

While in the 5th Episcopal District he was appointed as Interim Pastor of Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church in Popular Bluff, Missouri by Presiding Elder O.H. Brown in 1998.   Later on in 1998, through the recommendation of his Pastor, Rev. Sylvester Laudermill,Jr., and his Presiding Elder O.H. Brown he was assigned by Bishop Vernon R. Byrd to Perry Chapel A.M.E. Church in Charleston, Missouri.  For three years through the leadership of the Holy Spirit, and cooperation of the people, the ministry experienced growth spiritually, numerically, and financially.

 

Rev. Thomas began his educational pursuit in the public schools of Maryland.  He received his Diploma in 1980, from Stephen Decatur High School on the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland. In 1981 he completed certification for Building Maintenance & Supervision; He earned his B.S. degree in Urban Education / Public Administration from Harris-Stowe State College in St. Louis, MO 2000.  He also received his Master of Divinity degree in Urban Theology at the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) in Atlanta, GA from Turner Theological Seminary, 2005.  He served as Pastor of Sherman AME Church, San Antonio, Texas for seven years, and then served as Pastor at Greater Ball Tabernacle AME Church, San Antonio, Tx, for Nine-years. He also served as the President of the San Antonio Ministers Alliance. He is a member of the Board of Instructors in the Board of Examiners of the San Antonio District.  He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry Degree at Sankofa Institute at the Oblate Theological Seminary. In 2024 at the Bishop’s Planning Meeting, through the recommendation of Rev. Dr. Raymond Bryant and Rev. Dr. C.D. Williams, Bishop Ronnie Elijah Brailsford transferred and appointed Reverend Jeffrey as the new Senior Pastor at Bethel A.M.E. Church, Dallas Texas.

 

His hobbies include reading, fishing, barbecuing, traveling, arts, & crafts, playing cards, board games, outdoor activities, watching football, basketball, track & field.
